artistry in leather: a journey of craftsmanship, creativity and inspiration

Step into the world of leather crafting in this exclusive creative session workshop. Participants will explore the elegance of leather, to create their own personalized leather keep-sake.
Led by Oumaäti's founders Naila and Oumama, this engaging session invites participants to uncover the secrets of leather's art, and discover the enchantment woven within this exceptional material. The session introduces participants to the allure of leather: a timeless material that resonates with elegance and heritage. It offers a hands-on experience with leather, merging traditional craftsmanship with modern design techniques to create a leather keep-sake.
khyote jdor (threads of roots): ancestral weaving
The session gives participants a hands-on experience. They will learn about the craft, the symbolism, and the heritage from a local Moroccan contemporary artist who incorporates weaving in her artworks. As part of the session, participants will have the opportunity to weave, gaining a deeper understanding of the techniques involved in weaving.
back to the roots: introduction to moroccan contemporary art

The session offers participants a unique opportunity to explore the contemporary art scene of Morocco. This interactive experience offers a guided tour through JAJJAH, a dynamic gallery & tea house owned by renowned Moroccan artist Hassan Hajjaj, and an interactive discussion over Moroccan cuisine. Participants will intimately explore the amalgamation of tradition and modernity in Moroccan art, providing them with an understanding of the local art scene and its global significance.
1:1 portrait photography session
The session offers participants a private opportunity to connect with the retreat photographer and create a personalized professional headshot. The photographer will collaborate with you to establish a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, assisting you in choosing a setting that captures your unique essence. The resulting portraits will serve as a beautiful and meaningful reminder of the transformative experience.
In addition, photographs of the creative sessions and the overall experience will also be shared with participants following the retreat.
mindfulness for creativity - an exploration through flow writing
This creative session explores mindfulness as a formal and informal practice. Let’s interrupt our ‘doing’ mind, and honour our ‘being’ state - using anchors including breath and bodily sensations; exploring activities such as flow writing and creating personal affirmations.
Mindfulness supports creativity by fostering awareness and focus, mitigating self-criticism and judgment and cultivates openness - which often leads to innovation. By incorporating mindfulness into our creative practices, we can deepen our connection with ourselves in the present moment, and unlock new avenues of inspiration and self-expression.
manifestation as a vessel

Participants will craft vessels out of clay to hold dreams and intentions, connecting with nature to gather items to emboss into the vessel or embellishing it with gems and beads.

The session introduces participants to the captivating world of Gnawa music. Experience live performances by authentic Gnawa musicians and discover the power and energy of this ancient musical tradition, which is often used as a form of spiritual therapy and meditation. Known as "indigenous Moroccan trance music," Gnawa music has a transformative quality that will deepen your appreciation and understanding of its captivating rhythms and cultural significance in Morocco.
the art of henna
Participants are welcome to an intimate 1:1 henna session by a henna master who has honed her skills over three decades, including adorning the iconic Madonna with her exquisite designs.
gratitude ceremony
